To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a EHS Engineer to the Sheldahl team (A Flex company) located in Northfield, MN.
Reporting to the Director, EH&S the EHS Engineer will applies environmental, health, and safety knowledge and experience to maintain site wide programs and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This requires experience in managing EHS programs such chemical safety, industrial and hazardous waste, recycling, pollution prevention, spill prevention, storm water, and others EHS programs. Safety and emergency response skills and experience will be beneficial in this position. Due to the dynamic nature of this site, he/she is responsible for providing EHS support to the entire life cycle of a business line (initiation, pre-ramp, ramp, and closure).
What a typical day looks like:
Support site EHS programs to meet corporate requirements and maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Support the management of environmental permits i.e. air, wastewater, storm water, spill prevention.
Complete all requirements for Air Permit 13100005-002 Federal Part 70/Limits
Complete all requirements for Industrial Discharge Permit
Complete all Large Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste requirements for MPCA and Dakota County
Complete all requirements for Industrial Stormwater Multi-Sector General Permit – No Exposure Exclusion for both facilities
Complete annual submittals for EPCRA Tier II, TRI Form R Toxic Chemical Release, Annual waste, chemical inventories, and other regulatory filings
Assist in management of applicable environmental and safety programs i.e. waste, chemical, sustainability
Participate and provide support to the Emergency Response Team organization and safety committee.
Interfaces with outside vendors, contractors, and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals, and other environmental, health, and safety matters.
Supports site wide pollution prevention, recycling efforts and Zero Waste to Landfill Initiative.
Day-to-day activities and communications regarding EHS and Sustainability.
Coordinate training program for EHS&S related topics.
Meet all required documentation related to safety (i.e. accident reports, inspection reports, root cause analysis, etc.). Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.
Coordinate audits: EHS, IH, Loss Control Incident Investigation, etc.
Work with cross functional team on safety inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
Conduct regular review of existing EHS&S programs to maintain regulatory and corporate compliance
Direct and organize EHS-related projects for the site
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
Managing people / Direct reports experience preferred
Microsoft Office (Excel, Power point, word..)
OSHA Safety Program
Specific program experience i.e. Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Machine Safety, Risk Assessments (JHA, JSA, RA), Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness, Ergonomics, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and Arial Work Platforms (AWP), Hearing Conservation, Working at Heights, Incident Analysis (Fishbone, 5-Why)
Ability to work effectively with others
Manufacturing previous experience
